Men's Basketball defeats Baptist Bible

Box Score DALLAS, PA:  Arcadia University defeated Baptist Bible College 80-67 Saturday evening to finish in third place at Misericordia's University's 20th Annual McCarthy Tire Laurel Line Tournament.  The victory is the team's first of the season (1-1).  Senior Colin McCarthy (Langhorne, PA/Holy Ghost) was named to the All-Tournament team.

The Knights did most of their damage early on, using a 7-1 run over the game's first five minutes to gain the early advantage.  Arcadia never trailed in the contest, eventually taking an 11 point lead with 8:47 to go on an inside bucket from McCarthy.

Joe Brown (Philadelphia, PA/LaSalle) nailed a three point bucket inside the 7:30 mark to give Arcadia their largest lead of the game, 26-13.  Jason Thompson (Cape May Courthouse, NJ/Middle Twp.) hit two three pointers a minute apart, pushing the Knights out to a 15 point advantage with 3:18 to play in the half.  Arcadia went 7 of 12 from long range in the opening stanza and turned the Defender's 12 first half turnovers into 17 points to take a commanding 43-30 lead into the locker room.

Arcadia maintained a double-digit lead for the entire second half and had five players finish in double-figure scoring, led by first year Travis Saltus (Teaneck, NJ/Teaneck) with 14 points.  McCarthy added 10 points and 5 rebounds while Thompson, junior Khalief Trawick (Philadephia, PA/Franklin Learning Center) and first year Aaron Lee-Webb (Norristown, PA/Norristown) each scored 10 points for the Knights.

The Knights shot 51.9% from the floor, 46.7% from long-range and 76% from the stripe and out-rebonded the Defenders 30-26.  Baptist Bible shot 52.1% on field goals, 37.5% from three-point range and 66.7% at the line.  Luke Patterson led four Defenders scoring in double-figures with a game high 19 points.
