Knights deliver double-digit win over Rutgers-Camden

Box Score

GLENSIDE, Pa.:  Arcadia University grabbed momentum in the initial 2 minutes of the second half pushing a 5 point half time lead to 12, 34-22, after a single handed 7-0 run by first year player Joe Brown.  The visiting Scarlet Raptors of Rutgers-Camden fought but could never get the game closer than 9 points as the Knights held onto for the 78-65 home victory.

Brown finished with a team high in 3 categories: 17 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists, recording his first collegiate double-double.  The Knights improve to 4-2 overall, picking up their third straight while remaining undefeated on their home floor.

After an offensively challenged first half the Knights were able to still take a 5 point lead (27-22) into the locker room. Joe Brown had something else in mind for the Raptors in the second half as he and his Knights came out on fire, scoring 9 straight in two and half minutes.  The Raptors looked dazed as they observed a 5 point deficit explode into 14 by the 17:44 minute mark.  The 9-0 run was capped by a foul line jumper from senior Colin McCarthy, this week's MAC Player of the Week.  The most the lead reached for the Knights was 16 points after a dagger from junior Khalief Trawick, when he recovered a ball in the corner and nailed a trey to make it a 69-53 with 2:45 remaining.

The Raptors (1-5 overall) and leading scorer Anthony Solano, who finished with a game high 18 points, made several small runs but Arcadia's offensive balance with 4 scorers in double digits proved to be too much on this night.  In addition to Brown's 17, McCarthy finished with 16 points, Trawick with 15 points, and freshmen Aaron Lee-Webb with 12 points.  McCarthy and Webb put on a shooting clinic combining for 18 of 20 from the charity stripe.

The Knights defeated the Raptors in every aspect of the game as they out-rebounded them 46-38, out-shot them from the floor 43.6% to 32.3%, and out-shot them from long-distance 38.9% to 21.7%.

Arcadia travels to Doylestown, PA to face off this Thursday in a rivalry game with inter-conference foe, Delaware Valley College, Dec. 8th at 7 p.m.
