Falcons Down Arcadia Men's Tennis, 8-1

GLENSIDE, Pa., Friday, April 2, 2011-- Messiah College Men's Tennis allowed just one point to host Arcadia University in Saturday's home doubleheader Commonwealth Conference tennis match, defeating the Knights 8-1. The men played in conjunction with the women's team, who lost by a 9-0 margin to the Falcons. 

First-year Marc Ruggia took Messiah's Chris Brittingham to a third set tie-breaker at No. 5 Singles as he came back from a 5-7 loss in set two after winning the first set 6-3, eventually going on to defeat Brittingham in the tie-breaker 10-7 for the Knight's lone point of the contest. Graduate student Kevin Langner battled Messiah's No. 2 Justin Meckley in the Knights' second-best singles match of the day, falling in two, 4-6, 4-6. Langner began the afternoon with his No. 1 doubles partner Bart Blankenship '11, giving Messiah's Andrew Wismer and Justin Meckley all they could handle but the Knight's duo was defeated 8-6.
