Stevenson sweeps tennis doubleheader

GLENSIDE, Pa.: Arcadia University hosted a men's & women's tennis doubleheader against Stevenson University this afternoon with the visiting Mustangs sweeping both contests. Junior Herminio Quinones provided the men's team (0-1) with their only point of the day at No. 6 singles.

The Mustangs overpowered the Knights just enough during doubles competition, sweeping all three sets. Junior Eric Elie (Oakdale, NY/Connetquot) and first year Jeremy Garcia (Williamsport, PA/St. John Neumann Regional) battled at No. 2 doubles against James Bishoff and Shawn Kelley, falling 8-6. First year Nathan Owhanda (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore City College) and senior Max Amiel (New Providence, NJ/New Providence) were defeated by Nick Dunlop and Matt Hartley, 8-5.

Hartley would later face Arcadia junior Heminio Quinones (Vineland, NJ/Vineland) at No. 6 which produced the Knight's only point of the match, 5-1, 6-2 in favor of Quinones. Garcia went toe-to-toe with Stevenson's Shawn Kelley at No. 4 singles put was unable to pull off the win, falling 6-4, 7-5.
