Knights come up short against Delaware Valley

GLENSIDE, Pa.: Arcadia Men's Soccer dominated their soggy home field, out-shooting visiting Delaware Valley College 24-6, but failed to send one of their 9 shots on goal past either Aggie goalkeeper, coming up short with a 2-0 loss in today's non-conference game.

A last second goal before the half scored on a floater that snuck by Arcadia sophomore keeper Ryan Lantzy (Pheonixville, PA/Pheonixville) gave the visitors a surprise 1-0 advantage at the half.  Alex Stear set up the Aggie goal scored by James Fay.

If anything, the Knights upped their offensive pressure in the second half but could not score the equalizer before the 51st minute, when the Aggies (4-4 overall) scored their second, a goal by Kevin Robinson on a throw in from Joey Ordile for a 2-0 Aggies lead.

Arcadia forced Aggies starting keeper Chris Shaffer into making 6 stops.  Shaffer, who was credited with today's win, was relieved in the 56th minute by DJ Meisinger, whom turned aside 3 Arcadia chances.  Lantzy finished with 3 stops for Arcadia (4-5 overall).

Junior Zach Todd (Cape May Courthouse, NJ/Middle Twp.) was credited with a team and game high 3 shots on goal to lead the Knight's attack.  Arcadia earned the advantage in corner opportunities 7-0.

The Knights are looking ahead to Saturday's Commonwealth Conference opening game, hosting the Lions of Albright College at 3 p.m., following the women's league opener vs. Albright at 12 Noon.
