Men's Soccer Drops Tough Match to #1 Messiah

Box Score Glenside, PA (October 23, 2012) - The Arcadia University Knights (7-6-2, 4-4) took the top-ranked team in the nation to the limit tonight in a 2-1 loss to the #1 Messiah College Falcons (16-0-1, 8-0). All three goals were scored in the second half as Zach Todd converted a penalty kick for the Knights. Ryan Lantzy made seven saves for Arcadia.

The first half went scoreless, although Messiah had the majority of the scoring opportunities. The Falcons outshot the Knights 7-3 and had all six corners in the first half. Lantzy made three first half saves for the Arcadia.

Messiah broke the scoreless tie at 55:18 as Brian Ramirez scored from 25-yards out for a 1-0 Falcon lead. The Falcons then added an insurance goal at 66:38 by Dan Squire. Zach Todd cut the deficit in half at 77:58, converting in a penalty kick. The Knights could get the tying goal in the final minutes and fell by the 2-1 score.

Messiah finished with 17 shots to Arcadia's four and had all 11 corner kicks in the match.

The Knights wrap-up the regular season at 4pm on Saturday afternoon when they host Lebanon Valley on Easton Field.
