Men's Soccer Sends off Seniors with a Conference Win

Box Score October 27, 2012 (Glenside, PA):  Arcadia's men's soccer team knocked off a strong Lebanon Valley team, 3-1, Saturday afternoon on Easton Field.  The game was the last of the conference slate for both teams and puts Arcadia in solid position to earn a playoff berth.

Zach Todd started the scoring for Arcadia with a goal 28 minutes into the first half.  Todd, one of the four Arcadia seniors being honored during a pre-game ceremony, stepped up in a big way for the Knights.  Arcadia held this lead for the rest of the half and went into the break leading by a goal.

The second half began with another tally from Todd.  This goal came at the 51 minute mark and was assisted on a long throw-in by junior midfielder David Jacobs.  Todd's two goals tie him for the team lead in goals for the season, upping his total to five.

Down 2-0, the Dutchmen would not go away quietly.  Senior Andrew Cooper scored on a penalty kick at the 66 minute mark to give the Dutchmen hope.  Arcadia was not deterred by this goal; instead, junior Nick Morris, adding his second assist of the day, slotted a perfect ball through to sophomore Joe Bertucci, who found the back of the net.  This insurance goal came at the 84 minute mark and the game ended with the same score.

For the Knights, junior Ryan Lantzy had a big day in the cage.  Lantzy came up with some huge second half saves to keep the Knights on the winning end.  Lantzy finished with seven saves.

The Knights honored four seniors on the day: Todd, defender Spencer Lalk, and midfielders Mike Cahill and Ben Smith.  All four played major minutes and contributed to the win.

The Knights now await results of two other Commonwealth games to see where they will fall in the league's final standings.
