SAAC Raises Money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation

GLENSIDE, PA (November 8, 2012) - On Friday, November 2nd,  the Arcadia University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and the Department of Intramurals and Recreation hosted the first-ever "Fright Knight" Halloween Dance to raise money towards the Make-A-Wish Philadelphia & Susquehanna Valley chapter. Some 450 Arcadia students turned out to support this effort.

"The turnout was much greater then we could have ever expected," said junior women's soccer player and SAAC President Rachel Dolly. "It allowed us to well exceed our fundraising goal for the Make-A-Wish foundation.  Overall, the dance was a huge success. Thank you Arcadia students for making this possible."

"It was a huge success and a lot of fun to see so many Arcadia students dressed up," added head women's basketball coach and SAAC advisor Lorie Khalil 'Our SAAC student-athletes did a tremendous job of selling tickets and getting the word out about the dance.  On behalf of SAAC we would like to thank Jack Jephson (Director of Intramurals and Recreation) for collaborating with us to make this one of the best charity dances yet.."

There will be a check presentation with a Make-A-Wish representative on December 12th during halftime of the women's basketball game vs. Widener University.

The Arcadia University SAAC is made up of 31 student-athletes from 17 teams. These student-athletes were chosen by their coaches for their leadership, good attitude and commitment to making Arcadia athletics better. The group meets once a month and forms community service events and fundraising projects as well as discussing on-campus athletic event improvements and more.
