Men's Basketball Ends Calendar Year with Loss at Lafayette

Box Score Easton, PA (December 18, 2012) - The Arcadia University Knights (6-4) ended the 2012 calendar year tonight with a 86-62 loss to the Division I Lafayette College Leopards (5-8). Lafayette used three runs in the first half to open up a 23-point halftime lead and never looked back. The Knights trailed by as many as 30 points and got as close as 19 points in the second frame. Khalief Trawick led Arcadia with 15 points.

Lafayette won the tip and started quickly, using a 14-4 run to open the game and a take an early 10-point lead. Arcadia scored the next five points to trim the deficit to five at 14-9 with 13:44 to play in the first half. The Leopards responded with a second 14-4 run to take a 15-point advantage, 28-13 at the 8:22 mark.

The Knights then trailed 31-15, but scored the next seven points to get back to within nine at 31-22. The Leopards ended the half on an 18-4 run that included a three-pointer with less than five seconds on the clock to take a 49-26 lead into the break.

Aaron Lee-Webb scored nine points to lead Arcadia. Seth Hinrichs had 10 to lead Lafayette. The Leopards shot a blistering 65.5% from the field, including 50% from beyond the arc. The Knights shot 42.9% from the field, but went just 1-8 from three point range. Lafayette had a 14-13 advantage not he boards, but forced 12 turnovers that led to 20 points.

Lafayette started the second half on a 9-2 run to up their advantage to 30 points at the 16:32 mark. Arcadia trailed 65-35 and then used a 15-4 run to get to within 19 points at 69-50 with 7:45 to play. That would be as close as the Knights would get in the 26-point defeat.

Trawick was 5-10 from the floor with three rebounds and a two steal. Lee-Webb finished with 14 points and four rebounds. Hinrichs and Dan Trist each scored 14 points to lead Lafayette. The Leopards ended the game shooting 60.7% from the field, while the Knights shot 43.4%. The Leopards out rebounds Arcadia 33-24.

The Knights will have 17 days off before returning to action Saturday, January 5th when host Hood College for a 3pm tip-off in Alumni Gym.
