Women's Basketball to host Day for David

GLENSIDE, Pa.:  Arcadia University Women's Basketball invites all fans attending this Wednesday's Commonwealth Conference game against Widener University to help the Knights raise both awareness and funds for the St. Baldrick's Pediatric Cancer Foundation with Day for David, in honor of a very brave 10 year old boy, David Heard, who lost his battle with Neuroblastoma on Feb. 10, 2011.

David's battle against cancer began in 2008, when he was diagnosed with stage IV Neuroblastoma, a rare and often deadly cancer of the nervous system that strikes 750 children annually. David fought the disease hard, undergoing intense treatments at five different hospitals, including local Philadelphia Hospitals: St. Christopher's for Children, Hahnemann University, and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

But after six months of remission, David relapsed in July of 2010.

David lived everyday full of zest and sparkle,  leaving behind a legacy on this world to believe and never give up on your hopes and dreams. Too many children and families here the dreaded words "you have cancer," and in a instant their lives change forever.

Fans that donate $1 at the game will be entered into a drawing for a chance to shoot for a $50 Visa Gift Card at halftime. “David Bracelets” will also be sold at Wednesday's game for $3. There is no donation too small—every cent helps!  In addition, David's mother, Susan, will be speaking at halftime on behalf of her son & the St. Baldrick's Foundation.

Please join the Arcadia Women's Basketball program and together we can raise funds to help the St. Baldrick's Foundation find a cure!  The Knights tip-off against the Pride at 6 p.m. at the Kuch Athletics & Recreation Center.
