Softball Goes Winless at Salisbury Tournament

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4 SALISBURY, Md.:  Arcadia University Softball was held without a win at this past weekend's Sea Gull Classic Tournament hosted by Salisbury University. The Knights lost 2-11 to King's and 4-8 to Christopher Newport on the opening day and dropped Saturday's games, 3-4 to Stevenson and 3-8 to Lynchburg. 

Arcadia 2, King's 11
Brandee Zablotsky went 2 for 2 on doubles and Amy Johnson hit for a home run but the Knights were out-matched by King's who entered the game with a 7-1 record.  Jess Wood got the start for the Knights, lasting four and two-thirds innings while Heather Buriak went one-third inning in relief.  The errorless Lady Monarchs out-hit the Knights (4 errors) 9-4.

Arcadia 4, Christopher Newport 8
Heather Buriak went 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored and hit for her first career home run in the 4th inning.  Catcher Leanda Helms hit her first home run of the season in the second inning, a two-run shot.  Buriak took the loss from the pitcher's circle after three and two-thirds innings.  In relief, Jess Wood went two and one-third innings.  Christopher Newport out-hit Arcadia 10-5 as each team committed two errors apeice.

Arcadia 3, Stevenson 4
Arcadia's offense was led by Amy Johnson (2 for 2 with a walk), Lindsey Henchinski (2 for 4 with a double and a run scored) and Ashley John (2 for 3 with an RBI).  Heather Buriak pitched two innings in relief of starter Jessica Wood who carried a no hitter into the 5th inning.  Arcadia out-hit Stevenson 9-6 with each team making 2 errors on the day.

Arcadia 3, Lynchburg 8
Amy Johnson went 2 for 3 with a home run, 2 runs scored and a pair of RBI.  Brandee Zablotksy added a double. Starter Jess Wood took the loss through four innings of work allowing 4 hits and tossed 3 strikeouts.  In relief, Heather Buriak gave up 6 hits through three full innings.  Arcadia stranded 7 base runners and was out-hit by Lynchburg 10-6.

Arcadia (0-4) begins their eight-game series at the National Collegiate Sports Invitational in Myrtle Beach, S.C. today, opening with Principia College at 1:30 p.m. and Concord University at 3:30 p.m.
