Massott Ties For 7th to Pace Knights at Valley Forge Invitational

PHOENIXVILLE, PA.:  Dealing with a full slate of elements from Mother Nature including wind, rain and cold temperatures, the Arcadia University Golf team kicked-off their 2012 Spring Season opening match Saturday afternoon on the links of the Par-70 Kimberton Country Club. The four-team tournament also featured the host Patriots of Valley Forge Christian College, Eastern University, and Immaculata University. 

Carding an 86 through 18 holes, Arcadia's Shannon Massot '14 finished in a two-way tie for 7th place overall ( +16) with Eastern's Collin Whipple, to lead the Knights.   Massot tied overall individual winner Timothy Ekert from Immaculata and two tother top-five place winners by shooting a 41 on the front nine.

Collin Pippert '15 stroked a 97 (+21) to place 16th overall, carding a 46 on the front nine followed by a 51 on the back.

Finishing in a two-way dealock for 19th place (100/+30) were Arcadia's Daniel Schiffert '15 and William LaRicca '15 while Corey Cedermark '12 (114/+44) rounded out the field of 21. 

Immaculata won the tournament, shooting 338 as team (+58).  The host Patriots came in second overall shooting a combined 351 (+71).  Combining for a team score of 355 (+75) was third place Eastern followed by Arcadia in fourth with a 383 combined result (+103).

Arcadia will face host Swarthmore College on April 9 at Rock Manor Golf Club.
