Women's Tennis Edged by Albright 5-4 as Gaughan Caps Undefeated Week

GLENSIDE, PA: First year Kaila Gaughan capped an impressive undefeated week in singles play, but Arcadia University Women's Tennis was edged by visiting Albright College 5-4 in today's Commonwealth Conference match up on the Weiss Tennis Courts.

The loss for Arcadia keeps them in the hunt for their first league victory and is the second straight one-point shortfall by the squad in as many matches.

Although the Knights fell 2-1 to the Lions at the conclusion of doubles action, the battle that occurred at No. 3 Doubles would give Arcadia a boost of confidence as singles play commenced.

Latoya Flucker '14 and Haidee Reznick '15 teamed up in battle with Mazma Ali/Abby Walke of Albright and took the duo all the way to a 9-7 final result ending in the Lion's favor. Reznick carried over her play into singles, and avenged the double loss, playing the No. 6 slot and winning 6-1, 6-3 over Ali.

Kaila Gaughan '15 improved to 3-0 on the week with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Albright's Christina Peacock while Jasmine Peake '14 eased past Ligeia Evans of Albright, 6-2, 6-1. Peake paired with Dominique Canale '15 for Arcadia's lone doubles win.

Albright improves to 5-6 overall (1-0 CC) while Arcadia sits at 1-8 overall (0-2 CC).

The Knights return to the courts on Thursday, April 12 at Eastern University.
