IMMACULATA, PA (September 12, 2012) – The Arcadia University men's soccer team raced out of the gates scoring the game's first three goals in a non-conference 3-2 victory over Immaculata University on Wednesday afternoon, improving their record to 2-1-2.
Sophomore Joe Bertucci buried the ball in the back of the net for the game's first goal at the 17:06 mark to lead the Knights 1-0 at halftime. Bertucci and the Knights were not finished; at the 47:42 mark Bertucci would strike again by receiving a pass from junior David Jacobs to give the Knights a 2-0 score. Nearly 20 minutes later, freshman David Colombo assisted sophomore John Pacana to give the Knights breathing room with 23 minutes to play in regulation.
The Mighty Macs would fire back as TJ Jappah took a pass from Will Carr in the front of the box and scored Immaculata's first goal at the 86:34 mark. Less than one minute later, Jappah was taken down in the box and the Mighty Macs were awarded a penalty kick. Kyle Craig took the PK and scored the Mighty Macs second goal. Immaculata tried to net the equalizer but the Knights defense proved resilient as they held on to beat Immaculata 3-2.
Arcadia's starting goalkeeper Junior Ryan Lantzy played the first 81 minutes not allowing a goal. Freshman Seth Shoap played the final nine minutes with two stops. Immaculata goalkeeper Chris Raudabaugh took the loss making four saves
The Knights will continue their non-conference play as they take on Misericordia University this Saturday Night at 7 PM under the lights on Easton Field.
