Box Score GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA (September 13, 2012) – The Arcadia University Women's Soccer team defeated non-conference Gwynedd-Mercy 2-1 on Wednesday evening to improve to 3-2-1 on the season.
The Knights dominated the first half in all facets of the game outshooting the Griffins 11-1. Freshman
Rachel Bradd would set-up a beautiful cross pass in the box for sophomore
Kim Canfield to nail the game's first goal at the 30:13 mark.
In the second half, Gwynedd-Mercy came out much more aggressive on the offensive end as the Griffins were awarded a penalty kick after a hand ball in the box. Maura Gifford stepped up to the mark and buried her shot in the back of the net to tie the game 1-1 at the 58:46 mark.
With 15 minutes left in regulation, junior
Rachel Dolly would assist sophomore
Nina Barbieri for the game winning goal.
Winning goalkeeper sophomore
Veronica Willig made one save for the Knights while her counterpart Jess Tadley recorded seven saves.
The Knights travel to Radnor to take on non-conference opponent Cabrini College this Saturday at Noon.
