Women's Soccer Shuts Out Cabrini

Box Score

RADNOR, PA (September 15, 2012) - In a tale of two halfs, the Arcadia University Women's Soccer team scored two impressive goals in the 2nd half of today's non-conference match vs former conference rival Cabrini College, to improve their record to 4-2-1 on the season.

For the past five seasons, rarely the match between these two teams have been decided by more than a goal.  In the first half, it looked as if this would be the case once more, as both teams played with a strong defensive / counter game plan that produced a total of 8 shots for both teams, with Cabrini pressing their advantages for 6 of 8 shots from distance.

In the 2nd half, things would change dramatically as Arcadia stepped up to dominate the half with aggression as they out shot Cabrini 13 to 1.  The first goal was scored by freshman Rachel Bradd from a rebound off sophomore Kim Canfield's shot across the goal.  The Knights continued to dominate play by breaking down the Cabrini defense and hitting the post off a Canfield breakaway and then a goal that was called back from a freekick from sophomore Nina Barbieri.  Finally, with 12 minutes left, freshman Ashley Vaitis put the game away by heading in a cross from junior Rachel Dolly's corner kick.

The Knights look to continue their three game winning streak on Thursday as they head to Immaculata for a 4 PM game.
