Joe Brown recorded his fifth double-double of the season in a 67-63 win by the Arcadia University Knights (12-7, 7-5 MCOM) over the Hood College Blazers (10-9, 4-8 MCOM). Neither team had more than an eight-point lead in the second half and there were six ties and 11 lead changes in the game. The Knights used a 12-4 run late in the game to take the lead and never looked back.
Hood had an 8-7 lead early on, but a 10-0 run by Arcadia put them ahead 17-8 with 13:19 to play in the first half. The Knights held the cushion and led 22-14 at the 8:36 mark. The Blazers then used an 11-4 run to get to within one point at 26-25. Arcadia then led 30-27 with 3:01 to play, but Hood scored the final five points of the half to take a 32-30 lead into the break.
Colin McCarthy scored eight points in the first half to lead Arcadia. Reggie Daniels scored nine to lead Hood. Hood outshot the Knights 45.8% to 42.9%, but Arcadia had a slim rebounding lead, 18-13. Each team turned the ball over 10 times.
Arcadia quickly took the back to start the second half and had a 45-39 lead at the 13:57 mark. The Knights were then ahead 50-44, but a 7-1 run by Hood tied the game at 51 with 6:39 to play. The score was then tied at 55 at the 5:48 mark. Arcadia then used a 12-4 run to take a 67-59 lead with just 39-seconds to play. Hood scored the final four points of the game to make the final 67-63.
Trawick was 7-17 from the field, while Brown was 5-8. Travis Saltus added 15 points and
Colin McCarthy scored 13 points. Cameron Cook scored 13 to lead Hood. Both teams shot 43% from the field and Arcadia had a 40-32 advantage on the boards. The Knights forced 19 turnovers, while committing 16.
Arcadia will return home on Wednesday night when they host Elizabethtown for an 8pm tip-off in Alumni Gym.
