Box Score Glenside, PA (January 30, 2013) - The Arcadia University Knights (9-11, 2-11 MCOM) dropped their third straight contest tonight, 69-55 to the Elizabethtown College Blue Jays (11-8, 8-5 MCOM). The Blue Jays scored 10 straight to start the game and 11 straight to start the second half, opening up a 21-point lead. The Knights got to within 11 points late in the game, but could get no closer. Dominque Hassinger scored 15 points to lead Arcadia.
Elizabethtown started the game on a 10-0 run and had the double-figure lead at the 16:49 mark. Arcadia cut the deficit to six points at 14-8, but a 7-2 spurt by the Blue Jays gave them a 21-10 lead with 10:11 to play in the first half. Arcadia could only get as close as eight points late in the first half (33-25) and Elizabethtown took a 35-25 lead into the break.
Hassinger scored nine first half points to lead Arcadia. Taylor Alwine scored 10 points to lead all scorers. E-town shot over 43% from the field, while the Knights shot 34.4%. Arcadia had a 26-21 lead on the boards, but committed 13 turnovers and forced just three.
The Blue Jays scored the first 11 points of the second half, taking a 46-25 lead at the 14:56 mark. Arcadia did cut the deficit down to 16 points at 50-34 with 10:21 to play in the second half, but the Blue Jays went back up by 20 points, 55-35. Arcadia gradually chipped into the lead and got to within 11-points at 63-52 with less than three minutes to play. That would be as close as the Knights could get for the remainder of the contest.
Hassinger was 7-11 from the field and with three assists. Sam Caligiuri scored 10 points. Taylor Alwine scored 20 to lead the Blue Jays. Elizabethtown shot 41% from the field, while Arcadia shot 39%. The Knights won the board battle 51-43, but turned the ball over 20 times.
Arcadia will head to Messiah on Saturday for a 5pm tip-off.
