Women's Basketball Falls at #19 Lebanon Valley

Box Score Annville, PA (February 12, 2013) - The Arcadia University Knights (10-14, 3-13 MCOM) fell to the #19 Lebanon Valley College Dutchmen tonight, 83-55. Arcadia had a10-point lead midway through the first half, but a big run by the Ductchmen to end the half gave them an 18-point lead that they would never relinquish. Sam Caligiuri led the Knights with 17 points.

The Knights came out strong and the game was tied at eight with 16:10 to play in the first half. Arcadia then used a 14-6 run to take a 22-12 lead at the 10:21 mark. Lebanon Valley then took control of the contest using the final 10:21 of the half to go on a 33-7 run and take a 45-27 lead into the break.

The Knights shot 39.1% from the field in the first half, while Lebanon Valley shot 48.4%. The Knights held an slim 18-16 lead on the board, but committed 16 turnovers and caused seven.

Arcadia tried to cut into the deficit, getting it down to 14 points at 52-38 with 14:40 to play. Lebanon Valley extended their advantage back up to 19 at 59-40 at the 11:28 mark. Again the Knights got to within 15 at 55-40 and then at 65-50 at the 7:45 mark. The Dutchmen then used a 17-5 run to open up an 82-55 lead with just over two minutes to play and won the game by the 18-point margin.

Caligiuri was 6-16 from the field with three rebounds and four assists. Dominique Hassinger added 12 points and had six assists and six rebounds. Tierney Hiltz and Kiely Chaklos each scored 17 to lead the Dutchmen. Both teams shot 40% from the field. Arcadia held a 40-38 rebounding advantage, but made 23 turnovers which the Dutchmen turned into 29 points.

The Knights will conclude their season on Saturday afternoon as they travel to face the Widener Pride for a 1pm tip-off in Chester.
