Box Score Glenside, PA (February 27, 2013) - The Arcadia University Knights (0-1) dropped their season opener to the Neumann University Knights (3-0) tonight, 10-9. Arcadia tied the match at seven early in the second half, but Neumann scored the next two. Arcadia got to within one goal twice late in the game, but could not get the equalizer.
Haylee Molloy and
Meghan Fallon each scored three for the Knights.
Arcadia got on the board just 11-seconds into the match as
Jaclyn Feffer won the draw and scored for a 1-0 lead. Neumann tied the game at 26:43, but Arcadia took the lead back at 21:51 as
Jenna Crothers scored off a Molloy assist. Neumann then scored a pair to take a 3-2 lead at 16:22. Fallon then tied the game at 12:15 and Molloy put Arcadia ahead, 4-3 off a Fallon assist.
Neumann then took control, scoring three times in a five minute span to take a 6-4 lead at the 3:56 mark. Molloy scored for Arcadia at 1:51 off a
Dawn Faranetta assist to cut the deficit to one, but Neumann scored with 28-seconds left to take a 7-5 lead into the break.
Fallon and Molloy scored 42-seconds apart in the second half to tie the game at seven with 22:19 to play. Neumann then repeated the feat, scored a pair 42-seconds apart to take a 9-7 lead with 13:32 to play.
Arcadia made the score 9-8 at 7:05 on a goal by Garanetta off a Molloy assist. Neumann got their two-goal lead back at 4:39, but Arcadia won the ensuing draw and Fallon scored from Faranetta to make the score 10-9 with just over four minutes to play. Arcadia had chances to tie the game in the final minute, but fell one goal short.
Molloy had a five point night, while Fallon tallied four points. Faranetta recorded three points.
Deanna Thompson made three saves in goal for Arcadia. Arcadia outshot Neumann 31-17 and won 12 of the 21 draws.
The Knights return to action on Saturday when they to face Widener for a 12pm face-off in Chester.
