Box Score Glenside, PA (February 6, 2013) - The Arcadia University Knights (13-9, 8-7 MCOM) dropped a 64-47 decision to the Alvernia University Crusaders (18-4, 12-3) this evening. The Knights trailed by four, five minutes into the second half, but the Crusaders used the next 10 minutes to go on an 18-2 run, open up a 20-point lead and never looked back.
Khalief Trawick led the Knights with 14 points.
The teams traded baskets to start the game and the contest was tied at six early on. Alvernia then scored five straight to take an 11-6 lead at the 13:30 mark. The Knights then trailed 14-12, but the Crusaders scored six straight to take a 20-12 lead with 7:59 to play in the first half. Arcadia then trailed 25-14, but scored six straight to get to within five at 25-20. The Crusaders responded with four in a row to go back up 29-20. They went back and forth in the final minutes of the half and Alvernia went into the break with a 31-22 lead.
Khalief Trawick scored 12 points to lead Arcadia in the first half. Terrance Bridgers scored 14 points to lead Alvernia. The Crusaders shot 46% from the field in the first half and held the Knights to 35%. The Alvernia controlled the boards 26-11, but committed 12 turnovers and forced nine.
The Crusaders scored the first three points of the second half to extend their lead to 34-22. Arcadia then used a 9-2 run to draw to within four at 36-32 with 15:45 to play. Alvernia then used an 18-2 run took 10 minutes off the clock and led 54-34 at the 6:12 mark. Arcadia could only get as close as 15 points in the final six minutes before falling by the 17-point margin.
Trawick was 7-12 from the field.
Joe Brown added 11 points. Bridgers scored a game-high 16 points for Alvernia. The Crusaders shot 48% from the field and held the Knights to 36%. Alvernia controlled the boards 44-28. The Crusaders committed 17 turnovers and forced 14.
Arcadia will return to action on Saturday as they host Lycoming in the home regular season finale for a 3pm tip-off.
