Women's Lacrosse Defeats Penn State Abington

Box Score Glenside, PA (March 21, 2013) - The Arcadia University Knights (2-3) won their second straight contest tonight, defeating the Penn State Abington Nittany Lions (0-4), 18-1. The Knights scored the first six goals of the match in the first 10 minutes and never looked back. Haylee Molloy scored five times and assisted on another to lead the Knights.

Molloy scored four of the first five goals of the game for Arcadia. Her first goal was assisted by Adeline Bellesheim. Meghan Fallon scored the other goal in the first five for a 5-0 Knights lead at 21:30. Catherine Brown made it 6-0 at 20:09. Abington got on the board at 19:40, but Jenna Crothers and Kathleen Finnegan then scored free position goals for an 8-1 lead at 15:38. Molloy and Dawn Faranetta then scored unassisted tallies for a 10-1 lead. Jessica Santoli scored the final two goals of the half, the first off a Mindy Hair assist and the second off a Molloy assist for a 12-1 Knight lead at the break.

Faranetta started the second half scoring at 26:26. Finnegan the scored from Fallon to make the score 14-1. Santoli made it 15-1 off a Finnegan assist. Abbie Brewster then got on the board from Catherine Brown. Nancy Campbell found the back of the net at 8:39 from Anna Dienstman. Santoli wrapped the scoring at :40 seconds off a pass from Meghan Ringel.

Santoli scored four times, while Finnegan and Faranetta scored twice. Deanna Thompson got the win, making two saves. The Knights outshot the Nittany Lions 38-8 and won the ground ball battle 28-8. Penn State did win 12 of the 20 draws in the contest.

Arcadia returns to action on Saturday when they host Immaculata on Easton Field at 12pm.
