Box Score Glenside, PA (March 23, 2013) - The Arcadia University Knights (3-3) won their third straight match this afternoon, defeating the Alvernia University Crusaders (4-5), 8-4. The Knights scored the first four goals of the match and never looked back.
Chris Jacovino scored four goals to lead the Knights.
Arcadia started the scoring at the 7:06 mark of the first quarter as Jacovino scored hit first goal, unassisted. The game went to the second quarter with a 1-0 Arcadia lead. Arcadia added to their advantage in the second, as Jacovino score once again at the 11:10 mark. The Knights added a third goal as Jacovino scored a man-up goal from
Matthew Fox at 10:49. Fox the scored a goal of his for a 4-0 lead at 4:47. Alvernia scored the final two goals of the first half and the game went into the break with Arcadia leading 4-2.
The Crusaders cut the deficit one goal at the 9:14 mark of the third quarter, but Jacovino scored from
Casey Joffe at 9:00 for a 5-3 lead.
Chris Baines then made it 6-3 off a Fox assist at 6:45. The Crusader then made it 6-4 and the match went to the fourth with Arcadia holding a two goal lead. Baines scored hit second from
James Galassi at 10:12 of the fourth quarter and Galassi then scored from
Keith Napolitano at 3:47 to give Arcadia the 8-4 win.
Cory Sonderschafer made 11 saves to earn the victory. Fox had a goal and two assist, while Galassi had a goal and an assist.
Arcadia ail hit the road on Wednesday, when they travel to face Gwynedd Mercy for a 4pm face-off.
