Box Score Chester, PA (March 23, 2013) - The Arcadia University Knights (4-7, 1-0 MCOM) won the first game of the day, defeating the Widener Pride, 5-1 in game one of the doubleheader. Arcadia scored one in the fourth, two in the sixth and two in the seventh to earn the win.

After three scoreless innings, Arcadia got on the board in the fourth as Corrin Showalter hit an RBI single. Then in the sixth, the Knights got back-to-back homers from Leanda Helms and Jessica Wood for a 3-0 lead. In the seventh, Ashley John hit a two run single for a 5-0 lead. Widener scored a run in the fifth, but never threatened in the 5-1 Arcadia win.

Wood pitched a complete game, allowing one run on six hits and struck out two. She was also 1-4 with the homer. Helms was 2-3 with three runs scored and an RBI. Marissa Perez was 2-3.

Arcadia and Widener will play game two later this afternoon.
