Box Score Gwynedd Valley, PA (March 28, 2013) - The Arcadia University Knights (5-8) took the first game of a doubleheader from the Gwynedd Mercy College Griffins (3-8) this afternoon, 13-4. The Knights scored at least one run in every inning, but the third. Sara Boyadjis went 2-4 with three runs scored and three RBI.

Arcadia jumped on top in the first as they scored an unearned run, Jessica wood hit a sac fly and Ashley John hit an RBI single for a 3-0 lead. The Griffins made the score 3-2, scoring twice in the bottom of the first. The Knights added one in the second as Amanda Tomaschek scored on a wild pitch. Gwynedd Mercy tied the game at four with two runs in the third.

Arcadia took the lead right back in the fourth as they scored a pair of unearned runs for a 6-4 lead. They then added four more in the fifth. Corrin Showalter hit and RBI singled and then Boyadjis cleared the bases with a three run double for a 10-4 Arcadia lead. The Knights added one more unearned run in the sixth and Alexandra Schafer hit a two run triple in the seventh for a 13-4 advantage.

Jessica Wood and Sarah Gunia split the pitching duties as Wood pitched the first three innings and allowed three earned runs on seven hits. Gunia finished the game and allowed just four hits. Showalter and Tomaschek each had two hits for Arcadia.

The Knights and Griffins will play game two later today.
