Women's Lacrosse Extends Winning Streak to Five With Victory over Gwynedd-Mercy

Box Score Glenside, PA (March 28, 2013) - The Arcadia University Knights (5-3) won their fifth straight match this evening, defeating the Gwynedd-Mercy College Griffins (2-5), 17-7. Haylee Molloy scored five goals and assisted on two more for seven points tonight in the win. The Knights led 9-4 at the break and outscored the Griffins 8-3 in the second half.

It was Gwynedd that got on the board first at the 27:04 mark. Arcadia the scored the next two as Meghan Fallon scored from Molloy and Fallon scored an unassisted goal for a 2-1 lead at 21:05. The Griffins tied the match at 19:26. Dawn Faranetta then scored to put the Knights up 3-2 at 18:42. The Griffins again tied the match, but Arcadia scored the next two as Fallon and Faranetta scored unassisted goals for a 5-3 lead at 12:55. Gwynedd-Mercy made it 5-4 at the 12:04 mark, but the Knights scored the next nine goals to end the half and start the second half. Abbie Brewster, Fallon and Molloy (2) scored unassisted goals in the final 5:56 for a 9-4 halftime lead.

Molloy started the second half with a goal less than a minute in. Fallon, Molloy, Brewster and Faranetta then all scored unassisted goals for a 14-4 Knight lead at the 20:56 mark. Gwynedd scored at 12:49 to make the score 14-5, but Fallon made the score 15-5. The Griffins scored at 6:07 to make the score 15-6, but then Brewster scored from Molloy and Molloy scored an unassisted goal for a 17-6 lead with 3:26 on the clock. The Griffens scored at 1:31 to make the final 17-7.

Fallon scored six times for the Knights. Faranetta and Brewster each scored three times. Deanna Thompson got the win goal, making five saves.

Arcadia will return to action on Tuesday when they host Rutgers-Camden for a 7pm match on Easton Field.
