Softball Wins Sixth Straight, Takes Game One from Swarthmore

Box Score Glenside, PA (April 11, 2013) - A three run first and a three run second gave the Arcadia University Knights (12-12) their sixth straight win, 8-1 over the Swarthmore College Garnet (16-11) this afternoon in the first game of a doubleheader. Jessica Woof did the damage at the plate and in the circle as she pitched five innings, allowing just one run on five hits and went 2-2 at the plate with a run scored and three RBI.

Arcadia struck first in the bottom of the first as Wood and Leanda Helms hit back-to-back homers. Wood's was a two run shot and Helms hit a solo homer for a 3-0 lead. Swarthmore got one back in the the second, but the Knights scored three more in the bottom of the inning as Corrin Showalter scored on a error while Kathleen Resh was stealing second and then Brandee Zablotsky hit a two run single for a 6-1 lead. In the fourth Arcadia added their seventh run as Wood hit a sac fly to make the score 7-1 after four. The Knights added another run in the sixth as Zablotsky scored an unearned run.

Zablotsky was 2-4 with a run scored and two RBI. Amanda Tomaschek went 2-3 with a walk.

Arcadia and Swarthmore will play the second game of the doublheader later this afternoon.
