Men's Lacrosse Drops Heartbreaker At Home to FDU-Florham

Box Score Glenside, PA (April 15, 2013) - The Arcadia University Knights (4-7, 0-3 MFRE) turned a three-goal defecit into a halftime lead, but could not hold it and fell to the FDU-Florham Knights (3-9, 1-1), 8-7. The Knights and Devils finished the game this afternoon after it was suspended in the second quarter on Wednesday night due to lightning. FDU scored twice in the final eight minutes of the fourth to tie the game and take the lead.

Before the lightning struck on Wednesday, FDU scored at 12:51 to take a 1-0 lead. Chris Jacovino tied the game, at the 10:15 mark, but the Devils then scored three straight and took a 4-1 lead into the second quarter. The game was suspended at 11:36 of the second quarter.

After the resumption today, Arcadia made it 4-2 at 9:53 on an unassisted goal by Jacovino. FDU made it 5-2, but then the Knights scored four straight to take a 6-5 lead. Austin Morris scored twice, the second assisted by James Galassi, to make it 5-4. Jacovino then tied the game and Matthew Fox gave the Knights a 6-5 lead at the 1:40 mark. Arcadia took the one goal lead into the break.

FDU scored the only goal of the third quarter to tie the game at 3:46. Fox gave Arcadia a 7-6 lead at the 11:56 mark of the fourth. The Devils tied the game at 7:48 and took the lead at 2:33, 8-7. The Knights had the ball in the final minute with a chance to tie the match, but turned the ball over and fell 8-7.

Jacovino scored three times to lead the Knights. Morris and Fox each scored twice. Arcadia was outshot 38-17, but won 14 of the 17 face-offs.

Arcadia will start a three-game road trip on Wednesday night when they travel to face Manhattanville for a 7pm match.
