Box Score Hackettstown, NJ (April 20, 2013) - The Arcadia University Knights (5-8) fell at the Centenary College Cyclones (12-1) this afternoon, 16-6. The match was tied at four at the break, but Centenary outscored the Knights 12-2 in the second half.
Ryan Griffo had two goals and an assist for the Knights.
Arcadia started the scoring in the first as
James Galassi and
Chris Jacovino each scored unassisted goals for a 2-0 lead. Centenary made it 2-1, but Jacovino scored from Griffo for a 3-1 Knights lead at the 8:16 mark in the first. The Cyclones scored twice to end the quarter and tie the score at three. In the second quarter, Centenary scored to take a 4-3 lead, but
Matthew Fox tied the game at 2:37. The match went into the break tied at 4-4.
The Cyclones scored the first three goals of the third quarter to take a 7-4 lead. Griffo made it 7-5, but Centenary scored to make it 8-5. Griffo made it 8-6 at the 5:30 mark, but the Cyclones scored the final three goals of the quarter and took an 11-6 lead into the fourth. Centenary then scored five times in the fourth and kept the Knights off the board, winning 16-6.
Jacovino also scored twice for the Knights.
Cory Sonderschafer made 18 saves in net for Arcadia. Centenary outshot Arcadia 50-29, but Arcadia won 15 of the 24 face-offs.
The Knights return to action on Wednesday when they travel to face Eastern in MAC Freedom action.
