Softball Drops MAC Doubleheader to Elizabethtown

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Glenside, PA (April 23, 2013) - The Arcadia University Knights (16-19, 6-9 MCOM) dropped a doubleheader to the Elizabethtown College Blue Jays (18-16, 8-8) this afternoon, 4-1 and 11-5. The Knights fell behind in both games and could not muster a comeback in either one. Brandee Zablotsky had three hits in the twin bill with two runs scored.

In game one, Elizabethtown got on the board with three runs in the second. Erin Wilson hit an RBI single in the second to make it 3-1. The Blue Jays scored a run in the third and held the Knights scoreless for the rest of the way and got the 4-1 win. Arcadia was held to just five hits. Wilson went 2-3 with an RBI and pitched 6.1 innings, allowing four runs.

The Blue Jays jumped in front in game one with six runs in the second inning. Arcadia got two back in the third as Ashley John hit an RBI single and Alicia McMahon hit an RBI groundout. Elizabethtown scored two in the fifth to make it 8-2. Heather Buriak hit a solo homer in the fifth and Leanda Helms hit a two run shot in the sixth to make it 8-5. The Blue Jays then scored three more in the seventh to make the final score 11-5.

Zablotsky was 2-4 with two runs scored. Buriak was 2-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Helms was 1-2 with a run scored and two RBI.

Arcadia will return to action on Thursday for single game against Hood at 4pm on Blankley Field.
