Softball Ends Season With Doubleheader Loss To Alvernia

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Glenside, PA (April 27, 2013) - The Arcadia University Knights (16-22, 6-12 MCOM) had their season come to an end this afternoon with a doubleheader loss to the Alvernia University Crusaders (33-7, 16-2). Alvernia won the first game 6-1 and the second game 10-2. Marissa Perez had three hits on the day for the Knights.

Arcadia struck first as Leanda Helms hit an RBI single in the bottom of the first. Alvernia then took the lead in the fifth as they scored twice and led 2-1. Alvernia then added two more in the sixth to extend their advantage to 4-1. The Crusaders added two more in the seventh to make the final 6-1. Erin Wilson took the loss, pitching a complete game and allowing no earned runs on six hits. Arcadia had eight hits, but no one had more than one for the Knights.

In game two, Alvernia jumped out on top scoring two in the second, three in the fourth and two in the sixth for a 7-0 lead. The Knights got on the board in the bottom of the sixth as Perez scored on a wild pitch and Jessica Wood hit an RBI single. The Crusaders would add two more in the seventh for a 10-2 victory.

Perez was 2-3 with a run scored. Heather Buriak took the loss, allowing three earned runs on eight hits.
