Box Score CHESTER, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's basketball team suffered its first loss of the New Year after dropping a 94-83 Commonwealth Conference contest at Widener University Wednesday night, dropping its record to 6-6 overall and 1-4 in league play. The Pride improved 8-4 overall and 2-3 in conference games with the win.

Aaron Lee-Webb drained a pair of free throws four minutes into the second half before Widener senior forward Rob McPherson (Bowie, Md.) knocked down a three to start a 12-2 Widener run that put the Pride ahead for good.
Junior guard Travis Saltus (Teaneck, N.J.) brought the Knights back within six, 80-74, with 3:20 to go, but that was as close as Arcadia would get the rest of the way. Widener then scored six straight to open a 12-point advantage and then closed out the game by going 8-for-10 at the free throw line in the final minute and a half of the game.
Six players scored in double-figures for the Pride, who were led by McPherson's game-high 22 points. He also finished with seven rebounds and five assists. Junior forward Greg Lawson (Mount Holly, N.J.) posted a double-double with 15 points and 11 boards, while sophomore guard Laron Byrd (Philadelphia, Pa.) netted 14 points with five boards and four assists.
Saltus scored 19 points with seven rebounds and four assists to lead Arcadia, going 8-of-11 from the field with a pair of threes, while junior forward
Joe Brown (Philadelphia, Pa.) scored 16 points with six boards and three blocked shots. Fellow junior forward
Jose Figueroa (Philadelphia, Pa.) added 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the floor, and senior guard
Rashon Brock (Buena, N.J.) chipped in with 10 points.
Arcadia lost despite one of its strongest all-around shooting performances of the season. The Knights shot 52 percent (31-59) from the field, were 7-of-14 from three and shot 70 percent (14-20) from the line.
Widener also had a good day, shooting 53 percent (33-62) from the field, 56 percent (9-16) from three and 70 percent (19-27) from the line. The Pride held a 44-34 advantage in the paint and a 14-2 advantage in second-chance scoring.
Arcadia will look to bounce back Saturday when it travels to Hood College for a 3 p.m. Commonwealth Conference contest.
