Second half surge propels men’s soccer past Hood 3-1

GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's soccer team scored three second half goals to beat visiting Hood College Saturday evening at Easton Field. The Knights got two goals from freshman forward Bradley McKim.

After a scoreless first half, McKim found the back of the net off a cross from senior midfielder Nick Morris in the 56th-minute. McKim scored his second goal of the game in the 63rd-minute on an unassisted shot from the right side of the box for his team-leading seventh goal of the season.

Arcadia also scored in the 61st-minute when senior midfielder Alex Wells corralled a pass from senior back David Bertucci and shot a laser from roughly 25 yards out into the upper left corner. The goal was Wells' third of the season.

Junior goalkeeper Seth Shoap withstood an early barrage that saw him make four saves in the first seven minutes, and finished with six saves total to improve to 6-3-2 on the season.

The Blazers' lone tally came in the 68th-minute off a free kick by sophomore forward Drew Demich that curved perfectly out of the reach of a diving Shoap into the upper left hand corner.

Hood sophomore goalkeeper Henry Mills made eight saves in a losing effort as he fell to 4-4-0 on the season.

The Knights held a 20-15 advantage in shots and a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Arcadia returns to action Tuesday when they travel to Widener University for a 7 p.m. Commonwealth Conference match.
