Women’s volleyball drops 3-0 decision to Lebanon Valley on Senior Night

GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Lebanon Valley College Thursday night at Alumni Gymnasium in its final home match of the regular season. The Knights honored seniors Natalie Cadmus, Remi Gerwitz and Taylor Hoover in a Senior Night ceremony prior to the start of the match.
 
The Dutchmen improved to 24-5 overall and 6-1 in conference play with the win, while the Knights fell to 14-8 overall and 2-6 in league play.
 
Arcadia got out to a 12-8 lead in the opening game before Lebanon Valley went on an 8-0 to take the lead for good at 16-12 on its way to a 25-17 win. The second set was a back-and-forth affair at first and the Dutchmen held a narrow 10-9 lead before scoring five of the next six points to open a 15-10 advantage before using a 7-2 run to close out the game.
 
Lebanon Valley took control of the third and final game from the start, scoring 12 consecutive points to go up 13-2 on its way to taking the game 25-12 to finish out the sweep of the Knights.
 
Sophomore middle hitter Gretta Weidemoyer hit .417 with a match-high 11 kills and just one error on 24 attempts to lead the Dutchmen, while junior middle hitter Alli Quirk added seven kills and four blocks in the match. Senior setter Katie Musselman had a match-high 26 assists, while junior libero Allie Garrett notched a match-high 13 digs.
 
Senior outside hitter Natallie Cadmus recorded eight kills and four digs for Arcadia, while sophomore setter Alexia Bell had 20 assists. Freshman libero Sami Evans tallied a team-best 12 digs.
 
The Knights will close out the 2014 regular season Saturday at the Old Friends Crossover at Messiah College. Arcadia will face Susquehanna University at 11 a.m. and Moravian College at 1:30 p.m.
