Box Score 2 GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's volleyball team split a pair of matches at the Old Friends Crossover Saturday, which was hosted by Messiah College. The Knights rallied for a 3-2 (22-25, 18-25, 27-25, 25-11, 17-15) win over Moravian College, and fell to Susquehanna University 3-0 (14-25, 17, 25, 11-25).
The Knights finished up the 2014 regular season with an overall record of 15-9, marking the program's first winning season since going 13-11 in 2009. Arcadia's 15 wins this season are the fifth-most in a singles season in program history; the program record of 19 wins was set in 2001 with the team went 19-10.
Senior outside hitter
Natalie Cadmus registered a match-high 21 kills with 17 digs and five service aces in the victory over Moravian, while junior outside hitter
Kathryn Ahern hit .316 with eight kills and two errors on 19 attempts to go with 16 digs and a pair of service aces. Junior middle hitter
Christina Karnavas added seven kills, while freshman middle hitter
Colleen Stengel chipped in with six kills, seven digs and three blocks.
Sophomore setter
Alexia Bell handed out a match-high 43 assists to go with nine digs and three kills. Freshman libero
Sami Evans notched a team-best 19 digs.
Sophomore opposite hitter Jaclyn Smith hit .370 with 12 kills and two errors on 27 attempts to lead the Greyhounds (15-18), while sophomore middle hitter Taylor Kornmann added 11 kills. Junior setter Megan Szkolnicki handed out 28 assists, while junior outside hitter Lauren Hostetler tallied a match-high 28 digs.
Cadmus had eight kills to lead Arcadia against Susquehanna, while sophomore outside hitter
Makenna Micklus added six kills. Bell had 16 assists and eight digs, while both Ahern and Evans totaled nine digs.
The Crusaders (29-8) were led by junior outside hitter Kady Faller, who hit .400 with 11 kills and three errors on 20 attempts to go with four digs and two blocks. Three other Susquehanna players tied for second on the team with five kills each. Freshman setter Julie Kreutzer passed out 28 assists while totaling three kills, three service aces and eight digs.
Cadmus now has 315 digs this season, making her just the second player in program history to record 300 kills in a single season. The program record for kills in a season is 388, set by Heidi McCalister in 2001. Cadmus is currently averaging a single-season record 3.94 kills per set, while her 50 service aces are the sixth-most in a single season at Arcadia. She also now holds the career record for kills per set (3.51) and is eighth on the career kills list (523).
Evans now sits third on the single-season digs list with 403, making her the third player in program history to reach 400 digs in a season. Bell moved up to sixth on the single-season assists list with her 567 assists this season.
While the Knight will miss the upcoming Commonwealth Conference Championship, they are eligible for selection to the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championship Tournament. The ECAC tournament field will be announced November 10.
