Women’s volleyball drops 3-1 conference match at Widener

CHESTER, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's volleyball team dropped a 3-1 Commonwealth Conference match at Widener University Wednesday night, snapping the Knights four-match winning streak. The Pride improved to 5-15 for the season and 2-2 in conference play with the win, while Arcadia fell to 10-5 overall and 2-3 in conference matches.
 
Arcadia pulled out a 28-26 decision in the first set, but that proved to be the only one the Knights would take on the nights as they fell 25-20, 25-15 and 25-20 the following three sets.
 
Senior outside hitter Natalie Cadmus led Arcadia with 13 kills, and in doing so climbed to seventh on the Knights' single-season kills list and ninth on the career kills list. She now has 230 kills this season and 438 for her career.
 
Sophomore outside hitter Makenna Micklus added 11 kills with no errors on 39 swings for a .282 hitting percentage on the day, while freshman middle hitter Colleen Stengel hit .533 with nine kills and one error on 15 swings. Sophomore setter Alexia Bell had 25 assists with eight digs, while freshman libero Sami Evans had a team-best 16 digs.
 
Sophomore outside hitter Brooke Ruditys put down 17 kills with a match-high 21 digs for Widener, while senior right side hitter Jessica Dembeck hit .421 with 17 kills and just one error on 38 swings. Junior right side hitter Cassidy Kerezsi hit .393 with 12 kills and one error on 28 attempts, while sophomore setter Sabrina Barbieri handed out a match-high 48 assists with seven kills and six digs.
 
The Knights will look to bounce back Saturday when they travel to Gwynedd Mercy University for a tri-match with Keystone College.
