OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Senior forward
Molly Goldstein scored off her own rebound on a penalty corner with no time remaining on the clock Saturday afternoon, to give the fifth-seeded Arcadia University field hockey team a 2-1, come-from-behind victory over eighth-seeded Misericordia University in the semifinal round of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Mid-Atlantic Championship.
The match was hosted by seventh-seeded Stevenson University, who will face the Knights in Sunday's ECAC Mid-Atlantic title match. The Mustangs advanced to the championship round with a 5-3 semifinal win over third-seeded Lebanon Valley College earlier in the afternoon.
Arcadia (15-7), which tied the 2012 outfit's program mark for single-season wins with Saturday's triumph, knotted the game at 1-all with 4:53 remaining, when senior
Morgan Paese's third goal of the season was lifted from the top-left of the circle over the goalkeeper and just under the crossbar.
Goldstein, who scored two goals and an assist in the quarterfinal round Wednesday at fourth-seeded Kean University, got off her only two shots of the day after the Knights were awarded a penalty corner as time expired. Her initial shot off classmate
Katrina Dull's corner was stopped by Misericordia's (14-9) Angela Pasquini (five saves), before Goldstein's follow-up effort sent Arcadia to the title match.
The Knights held a 10-7 advantage in shots over the Cougars, who opened the scoring just prior to halftime when Emily Hegner tipped home Colby Eldridge's effort off of a penalty corner. Sophomore netminder
Brittany Hodson turned aside three shots in the Arcadia cage.
