Kayla Haberbosch scored the only goal of the match 7:45 into the second half to give the second-seeded Arcadia University women's soccer team a 1-0 victory over sixth-seeded Wilkes University Saturday in the semifinal round of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III South Championship. The game was hosted by top-seeded Lebanon Valley College.
The Knights (17-6-0) will look to win their second straight ECAC South title Sunday when they take on fifth-seeded McDaniel College Sunday at 1 p.m. The Green Terror advanced to the championship round after defeating the host Dutchmen 3-1 on penalty kicks after the teams were tied at 2-2 through 110 minutes of play. Arcadia defeated McDaniel 3-1 in the 2013 ECAC quarterfinals on its way to winning the first-ever ECAC championship in school history.
Haberbosch's fifth goal of the season came from point blank range off a pass from sophomore midfielder
Lennon Kramer. The assist was Kramer's fourth of the year.
Arcadia, which dropped a 3-2 decision to Wilkes at Easton Field during the regular season, dominated the game, outshooting the Colonels 19-4 in the game with 11 of those shots landing on goal. The Knights had a 5-2 advantage on corner kicks.
Senior goalkeeper
Veronica Willig stopped the only shot on goal she faced to earn her eighth shutout of the season, improving her record to 16-6-0 on the season.
Junior goalkeeper Lisa Semetti had 10 saves in taking the loss for Wilkes (12-9-0), dropping her record to 10-8-0.
