ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's basketball team dropped a 63-54 decision in the consolation game of the DeSales University's Morgan Stanley Tip-Off Tournament Sunday. Junior forward
Addy Crenny was named to the All-Tournament Team after averaging a double-double with 14 points and 15.5 rebounds per game.
Kaitlin Astel led the Ducks (1-1) with a game-high 18 points on 8-of-17 shooting from the field and fell two rebounds short of a double-double with eight. Hannah Brophy also finished in double-figures with 11 points, while Dylan Krause pulled down a team-best 12 rebounds to go with nine points.
Junior guard
Maureen Fiocca scored 13 points with five rebounds and three assist for the Knights (0-2), while Crenny finished with 11 points, a game-high 14 boards, three steals and three blocked shots. Junior guard
Samantha Caligiuri added nine points.
Arcadia shot just 24 percent (16-67) from the field in the game, while Stevens made 39 percent (24-61) of its shots from the floor.
The Ducks opened the game with a 7-1 run that the Knights answered with an 11-0 burst to take a 12-7 lead midway through the first half. That proved to be Arcadia's only lead of the game as Stevens went on a 13-3 run to take a 20-17 lead before taking a 26-24 advantage into the locker room at the half.
It was a four-point game in the early stages of the second half before the Ducks used a 17-4 surge to open a game-high 17-points advantage at 51-34 after Astel knocked down a jumper with 10:24 on the clock. The Knights came storming back with a 12-point run that was capped by a bucket from Crenny with 4:53 to go, but that was as close as Arcadia would be the rest of the game.
Stevens pushed its lead back to 11 after another Astel jumper made it 61-50 with 1:28 to go before holding on for the 63-54 final.
The Knights will next travel to Baptist Bible College (0-1) Tuesday for a 7 p.m. non-conference contest.
