Box Score 2 GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University softball team won both ends of a doubleheader against visiting Albright College by a score of 5-4 for each game. In the bottom of the eighth inning of game one, sophomore Nicole Larro (Cedarville, N.J.) laid down a perfect bunt and because of a throwing error by Albright's pitcher, classmate
Erin Wilson (Bethlehem, Pa.) was able to cross home and score the winning run for the Knights.
With the wins, Arcadia improves to 4-8 overall and 2-0 in the Commonwealth Conference, while Albright falls to 2-7 and 0-2 in the Commonwealth. It was both teams' first conference games of the year.
On the day, sophomore
Natalie O'Reilly (Honesdale, Pa.) had a huge day for the Knights going 4-for-7 between both games and contributing 5 RBIs and a run scored.
Game 1: Albright 4, Arcadia 5Albright jumped out to an early lead in the game by scoring two in the first inning off of Wilson. The Lions opened the game with two infield singles followed by a double to score the first run and then a couple of batters later, another single to put Albright up by two.
The Knights did respond in the bottom half after a walk by junior
Jessica Shotwell (Winsted, CT) followed by her stealing second base. Larro then hit a single to score Shotwell and cut the deficit in half. Larro went on to steal second but was doubled up on a hard line-drive right to the second baseman to end the inning.
Albright struck again in the third by producing two hits to start off the inning and a sacrifice bunt to put two in scoring position. An RBI groundout sent across their third run of the game
In the bottom of the fourth, Arcadia was able to load the bases, which gave way to O'Reilly who lined a double to the left center to clear the bases and give the Knights their first lead of the game.
Albright tied up the game in the sixth inning and neither team were able to put across any more runs in next inning and a half to send the game to extra innings.
The Knights won the game in the bottom of the eighth inning after a single from Wilson and
Katherine Ghyzel (Rochester, N.Y.) put runners on first and second. Larro attempted a sacrifice bunt, but the first baseman could not handle the errant throw from the pitcher, allowed Wilson to come across to score the game-winning run.

Leanda Helms (Topton, Pa.), and O'Reilly each pitched in with two hits in the game, with O'Reilly pushing across three RBIs that were key for the Knights.
Wilson earned the complete game victory for the Knights, improving her record to 2-4. In her eight innings of work, she allowed four runs on 11 hits and three walks, while striking out nine.
For Albright, freshman Katie Citivello (Collegeville, Pa.) suffered the loss after surrendering five runs on ten hits and six walks.
Game 2: Albright 4, Arcadia 5Once again, Albright struck first in the contest producing a run in the top half of the first inning from a two-out single.
However, Arcadia would score in four of their six times to the plate, pushing across a run in each of the second, fourth, and fifth innings while adding two insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Sophomore
Sarah Gunia (East Brunswick, N.J.) plated the Knights' first run of the game when she squeaked in a single down the left field line to score Wood.
O'Reilly and sophomore
Alicia McMahon (Bel Air, Md.) would each add an RBI single in the fourth and fifth innings, respectively, to give Arcadia a 3-1 lead.
In the sixth, Gunia hustled out a double down the left field line to start the inning. A well-executed sacrifice bunt from Wilson was able to move Gunia to third and O'Reilly hit Gunia home to get her second RBI of the game and increase the lead to three. Sara Boyadjis (Cedar Knolls, N.J.) scored O'Reilly to give the Knights a 5-1 lead going into Albright's final at-bats.
The Lions made it interesting in the final half but their comeback would fall just short. They scored three runs on only one hit, four walks and two errors. Sophomore
Sarah Falcon (Sparta, N.J.) entered the game with bases loaded and no outs but was able to stop the damage and close out the game for the doubleheader sweep.
Five Knights had a multi-hit game in the night cap with Boyadjis, McMahon, Wood, Gunia, and O'Reilly each contributing two hits.
Gunia was credited with the win for the Knights, scattering eleven hits and two walks in her six-plus innings of work on the mound.
Falcon earned the save for her one inning of work after entering a 5-1 ballgame and bases loaded with nobody out.
For the Lions, Citivello suffered the loss in her complete game after giving up five runs on 11 hits.
