Box Score 2 GLENSIDE. Pa. – The Arcadia University softball team split a non-conference doubleheader against Penn State-Abington Thursday afternoon at Blankley Field, winning game-one 4-1 before falling short in game-two 6-2. The Knights record now stands at 5-9 for the season. It was the first action of the 2014 season for the Nittany Lions.
Sophomore Sarah Boyadjis (Cedar Knolls, N.J.) led off game-one with a double to right before scoring classmate Nicole Larro's (Cedarville, N.J.) single up the middle, and Larro eventually scored on sophomore
Sarah Gunia's (East Brunswick, N.J.) infield single to give Arcadia an early 2-0 lead.
Penn State-Abington got one run back in the bottom of the second when freshman Breanna Lineman (Philadelphia, Pa.) scored from third on junior Michaela Drogalis' (Croydon, Pa.) double to left-center, but that was the only run the Nittany Lions could manage the entire game.
The Knights added a pair of insurance runs in the top of the fifth for the 4-1 final. Larro led off the frame with a triple to the fence in right-center and scored on sophomore
Alicia McMahon's (Bel Air, Md.) ground out to third, and senior
Leanda Helms (Topton, Pa.) scored from first on classmate
Jessica Wood's (Columbus, N.J.) double to right.

Erin Wilson (Bethlehem, Pa.) improved to 3-4 for Arcadia after allowing one unearned run on five hits with nine strikeouts in fiving innings of work. Classmate
Megan Roynan (Harleysville, Pa.) picked up her first save of the year after sitting down all six batters she faced in the final two innings.
Larro finished 2-for-4 with a triple, two runs scored and one driven in, while Wood was 4-for-4 with a double and one RBI. Boyadjis was also 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored.
Senior Sam Kidd (Philadelphia, Pa.) was 2-for-3 with a double for Abington, while Drogalis took the loss for after allowing four runs on 11 hits in seven innings. She was 1-for-3 at the dish with a double and an RBI.
The Knights led 2-1 after plating a pair of runs in the top of the fourth in game-two, with Larro scoring on a passed ball and Helms scoring on Wood's single to left center, but that lead did not last long as the Nittanly Lions scored three times in the bottom half of the frame to regain the lead for good.
Freshman Danielle Jones (Levittown, Pa.) tied the game after scoring on freshman Bianca Monterosso's (Abington, Pa.) double to left and senior Sheila O'Hagan (Willow Grove, Pa.) followed with a two-run blast to left that put Abington ahead 4-2. The Nittany Lions added two more runs on Lineman's two-run homer to straight away center field for the 6-2 final.
Arcadia tried to rally in the top of the seventh, but left the bases loaded after Larro grounded out to second to end the game.
Freshman Emily Wrenn (Hatboro, Pa.) earned the decision after allowing two runs on six hits in seven innings for Abington. O'Hagan was 3-for-4 with a homer, two RBI and a run scored, while Monterosso finished 2-folr-4 with a double, two runs scored and one driven in.
Gunia took the loss for Arcadia after allowing six runs, five earned, on nine hits in six innings, dropping her record to 2-4. Sophomore
Natalie O'Reilly (Honesdale, Pa.) went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles.
The Knights will return to Blankley Field Saturday to host a 1:30 p.m. Commonwealth Conference doubleheader against Stevenson University.
