Men’s Tennis Team Sweeps Bryn Athyn, 9-0

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's tennis team recorded a 9-0 non-conference victory at Bryn Athyn College Friday afternoon to improve its record at 6-4 for the season. The Lions fell to 0-4 with the loss.
 
Sophomore Alexander Colton and freshman Wesley Wei teamed for an 8-0 win at first doubles over juniors Andrew Dexter and Kyle Watters, and Wei went on to defeat Dexter at No. 1 singles 6-3, 6-1. Senior Marc Ruggia and sophomore Vincent Voulo were 8-1 winners at No. 2 doubles over senior Blake McCurdy and junior Johnny Walker, and Ruggia went on to beat Watters at No. 2 singles for his second win of the day, 6-0, 6-1.
 
Sophomore Darren Stochmal and freshman Charles Poklikuha gave the Knights a sweep in doubles play with an 8-1 win over senior Dan Cook and freshman Luke David at No. 3. Stochmal then picked up a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles over Cook.
 
Sophomore Simon Mohr was a 6-2, 6-2 winner over McCurdy at No. 4 singles, while freshman Tim Donley was a 6-2, 7-5 winner over Walker at No. 5 singles. Classmate Felix Haase picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win over senior Phillip Brandt at sixth-singles.
 
Arcadia will be back in action when it travels to Kings (Pa.) College Saturday  at 1 p.m.
