GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's tennis team closed out the 2014 season with a 9-0 Freedom Conference victory over visiting Misericordia University Saturday at Weiss Courts. The Knights improved to 7-6 for the season and 2-4 in conference play with the win, while the Cougars fell to 4-14 overall and 0-6 in conference play.
 
Sophomore Alexander Colton (Lafayette Hill, Pa.) and freshman Wesley Wei (Monroe Township, N.J.) were 8-2 winners at No. 1 doubles over junior Tony Goodall (Old Forge, Pa.) and freshman Corey Dulsky (Dallas, Pa.), and then went on to win their respective singles matches. Colton was a 6-4, 6-1 winner over sophomore Christian Pugliese (Hazelton, Pa.) at No. 3 singles, while Wei was a 6-0, 5-7, 7-5 winner over Dulsky at No. 2 singles.
 
Senior Marc (Mount Laurel, N.J.) and sophomore Vincent Voulo (Kunkletown, Pa.) won an 8-1 decision at No. 2 doubles over sophomore Nick Hendry (Cedar Grove, N.J.) and Pugliese before improving to 2-0 for the day with their singles victories. Ruggia was an 8-5 winner over junior Eric Correll (Stillwater, Pa.) at No. 4 singles, while Voulo posted a 6-4, 6-4 win over Goodall at No. 1 singles.
 
Sophomore Darren Stochmal (Millville, N.J.) and freshman Charles Poklikuha (West Creek, Pa.) were 9-7 winners at No. 3 doubles over Correll and junior Robert Knipper (Coaldale, Pa.) and then went on to record singles victories of their own to close the day 2-0. Poklikuha was an 8-1 winner over freshman Samarth Shah (Scranton, Pa.) at No. 6 singles, while Stochmal was an 8-2 winner over Hendry
 
Ruggia was honored in a Senior Day ceremony prior to the match. Arcadia also retiring head coach Lak Sphabmixay for his 10 years of service to the men's and women's tennis programs.
