ST. DAVIDS, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's soccer team recorded a 2-1 victory at Eastern University Thursday in the consolation match of the Haverford Kickoff Classic, which was originally scheduled for August 31 but was halted due to a combination of the severe weather and darkness.
The Knights improved to 4-1-0 for the season with their fourth consecutive victory, while the Eagles fell to 2-3-0 with the loss.
Junior forward
Jackie Glanfield scored her third goal of the season 4:19 into the second half to break a 1-1 deadlock and put Arcadia ahead for good. She also recorded an assist in the game, setting up sophomore forward/midfielder
Lennon Kramer's team-leading fifth goal of the season that game the Knights a 1-0 lead in the 31st-minute.
Arcadia didn't hold the lead for long following Kramer's tally, as freshman midfielder Alondra Cervantes put home her second goal of the season just 1:34 later to tie the match at 1-1.
Senior keeper
Veronica Willig notched two saves to record her fourth consecutive win in goal for the Knights and improved to 4-1-0 overall, but saw her shutout streak end at 263:05. Senior keeper Elayna Simpson made four saves in taking the loss for Eastern.
The match was not as close as the 2-1 score may indicate. Arcadia outshot the Eagles 13-4 in the game and had a 7-2 advantage on corner kicks.
The Knights will look to extend their winning streak to five games when they travel to Cabrini College for a non-conference match that is set to get underway at noon.
