GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's soccer team gave up two late goals to suffer their first loss of the season against Misericordia Saturday afternoon at Easton Field. The Knights fell to 3-1-1 while the Cougars improved to 4-1-1.
Misericordia got the first two scoring chances, forcing Arcadia junior goalkeeper
Seth Shoap to make a pair of saves, including a diving save on a shot from freshman midfielder Barry Kabinoff in the 28
th-minute .
The match remained scoreless until the 42
nd-minute, when junior midfielder
David Colombo crossed a pass from the right side to senior midfielder
Alex Wells for a one-timed shot past Cougars' junior goalkeeper Barry Fitzgerald.
The Cougars attack broke through in the 85
th-minute as senior midfielder Nick vonEgypt crossed a pass from the left side allowing Kabinoff to head a shot into the net to tie the game at 1-1. Misericordia took the lead with 1:06 left on the clock as junior forward Derek Antonini put a shot in the lower right corner to give the Cougars a 2-1 lead and give Arcadia a heartbreaking first loss.
With the loss, Shoap fell to 3-1-1 after allowing his first two goals of the year while recording four saves. Fitzgerald improved to 4-1-1, recording five saves in the win.
The Knights return to action Wednesday when they host Rowan University for a 7 p.m. non-conference match at Easton Field.
