GLENSIDE, Pa.- The Arcadia University women's basketball team shot just 24 percent (17-71) from the field in a 74-50 loss to nationally-ranked Amherst College on Monday afternoon. The Knights fell to 6-6 with the loss. The Lord Jeffs, who entered the game ranked third in the most recent D3Hoops.com media poll and fourth in the current WBCA Coaches' Poll, improved to 10-0 with the win.
Amherst scored the first 15 points of the game as part of a 21-1 run over the first four minutes of the first half. Arcadia would outscore the Lord Jeffs 23-14 the rest of the half to cut their lead to 11 at the break, 35-24.
Amherst opened the second half on a 15-1 run, opening the score up at 50-25 with 13:04 remaining in the game, and cruised the rest of the game to a 74-50 finish.
The Knights were led by junior forward
Addy Crenny, who had 15 points and 14 rebounds for her conference-leading ninth double-double of the season. Senior guard/forward
Megan Fox added six points and four rebounds, while senior guard
Michaela Holleran contributed six points off the bench.
Amherst was led by sophomore guard/forward Hannah Peterson's 17 points. Sophomore guard Jaimie Renner added 12 points, while sophomore guard Ali Doswell contributed 11 points and six rebounds.
Arcadia returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Lycoming College for a 3 p.m. Commonwealth Conference tip-off. Â
