Field Hockey Snaps Slide with Dominant 5-1 Win at Neumann

ASTON, Pa. – The Arcadia University field hockey team outshot host Neumann University 30-5 as it recorded a 5-1 non-conference victory Wednesday night, and in the process brought to an end an eight-game losing streak.

The Scarlet and Grey (5-9) never trailed in the match after freshman Nicole Hassett cashed in on a penalty stroke 18:37 into the contest. It was the first goal of her collegiate career. Senior Taylor Dalisera quickly followed with what proved to be the difference-make in the match two minutes later, scoring her second goal of the year off a penalty corner that was inserted by classmate Debbie Wolfe.

Kay Roy pulled Neumann (6-8) back within one with her first goal of the season in the 27th-minute, but a three-goal second half by Arcadia put the contest out of reach.

Junior Allie Hines put the ball in the cage twice in the second half, first on a penalty stroke nine minutes into the period and then an unassisted goal in the 57th-minute. She is now tied for the team lead in goals with eight this season. Dalisera capped the scoring with six minutes left in the game, putting home her own rebound off a corner for her second tally of the game, third of the season.

Junior Brittany Hodson stopped one of the two shots on goal she faced to improve her record to 5-6 this season for Arcadia. Becca Wallace took the loss after totaling 13 saves with two goals against in the first half for Neumann, while Kylee Rutty made six saves and allowed three goals in the second half.

Arcadia will next travel to Stevenson University Saturday night for a MAC Commonwealth match.
