UNION, N.J. – The Arcadia University women's volleyball team dropped a pair of non-conference decisions in a tri-match at Kean University Saturday, falling 3-0 (24-26, 25-27, 16-25) to FDU-Florham before losing to the host Cougars 3-0 (12-25, 18-25, 23-25).
The opening match against the Devils (20-7) easily could have gone the other way. The Knights (9-13) scored more points in the match (44-39), but also committed more attack (27-19) and service (12-7) errors.
Freshmen
Sam Dulak and
Elizabeth Joseph both recorded double-digit kill performances to lead Arcadia, offensively. Dulak fell just shy of a double-double with a match-high 12 kills and eight digs, while Joseph put down 10 kills with three blocks. Classmate
Kayla Resh led the team with 13 digs.
Lauren Harris and Kate Quinlan led FDU-Florham with seven kills each, while Kristi Wong handed out 21 assists with six digs. Rachel Catena had a match-high 14 digs to lead the Devils, defensively.
Senior
Christina Karnavas and freshman
Becca Campf led Arcadia against Kean with seven kills each, while junior
Alexia Bell totaled 23 assists and eight digs. Resh posted another double-digit dig performance with 12.
Kassie Hernandez registered a match-high 12 kills with nine digs to lead Kean (15-16), while Brett Harper hit .333 with six kills and one error in 15 attempts. Nicollette Poveromo had 25 assists with seven digs, while Lisa DeGroot had a match-high 20 digs.
The Knights will next hos a MAC Commonwealth match against Stevenson University Wednesday night starting at 7 p.m. at Alumni Gymnasium.
