Offense Erupts as Field Hockey Defeats Hood

Tobey, Bechtold score twice each

GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Arcadia University field hockey team erupted for eight goals on Saturday as it picked up its second straight win with an 8-1 decision over Hood.Six different Knights scored led by Lindsay Tobey and Lindsay Bechtold with two goals each. 

Nicole Hassett opened the scoring just three minutes in off a penalty stroke. Tobey scored her first of the day five minutes later when she tipped a Rachel Longenecker shot into the back of the cage. Longennecker put the Scarlet and Grey up 3-0 just over 10 minutes in when she scored off a Taylor Dalisera feed. 

Tobey and Longenecker hooked up again in the 12th minute for the Knights' fourth goal. Bechtold went on to score the next two goals, first from Erin Misner in the 25th minute then from Isabel Farfan in the 31st minute. The latter capped the first half scoring in the 34th minute on an assist by Dalisera.

Arcadia fired 30 first half shots while not allowing any on the defensive end. The Scarlet and Grey drew 18 penalty corners in the opening stanza.

Molly Fait scored the Knights' lone second half goal from Nicole Melchiorre in the 47th minute before the Blazers responded a minute later.

Brittany Hodson didn't have to make any saves as she picked up the win in goal. Hailey Poisal made a dozen saves in the loss for Hood. 

The Knights now sit at 7-10 with a 2-4 MAC Commonwealth record. They will finish conference play Wednesday at Widener.
