Crenny, DiMuro Record Double-Double, Knights Fall 69-63 at Gwynedd Mercy

GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's basketball team travelled up 309 Tuesday night falling on the Griffins of Gwynedd Mercy 69-63. Seniors Addy Crenny and Valerie DiMuro each registered a double-double in the contest.
 
The Knights found themselves in an early hole as the Griffins scored the game's first six points. Using early efficiency from the charity strip Arcadia began to chip away at the host's lead. DiMuro scored the Knights' first point on a free throw with 4:35 left in the first quarter. Crenny converted a pair of foul shots less than a minute later before rookie Olivia Roseman converted from beyond the arc to tie the game at six with 3:03 left in the opening frame. After 10 minutes of play, the score was 10-10.
 
Arcadia outscored the Griffins 27-8 in the second quarter, starting with an 11-0 run to open the frame. Roseman opened the quarter with a three before DiMuro and Crenny went to work in the frontcourt combining for the final eight points of the opening run. Irelynn Donovan scored seven straight points for the Knights over a 53 second span that included a pair of threes. A 10-4 half-ending run sent the Knights to the break with a 37-18 lead.
 
Roseman lead all scorers with 12 first half points on 4-6 shooting. DiMuro was a force on the glass pulling in 11 points to go with her nine points.
 
Arcadia opened a game-high 23 point lead just over two minutes into the second half as they scored six of the first eight points in the stanza, however it would be the Griffins who won the period by a 20-15 margin. 
 
The hosts opened the final quarter on a 19-3 run over the first four and a half minutes to fuel the comeback win.
 
Crenny finished the game with 21 points and 11 rebounds. DiMuro added 15 points on 7-11 shooting to go along with 14 assists. Roseman drained five threes for 15 points. Arcadia controlled the paint as they outscored the Griffins 30-10 in that area.
 
Three Griffins reached double-figures led by Julianna Hoisington with 21. Charlotte Kucowski deposited 17, while Larissa Leyes added 12.  Led by Hoisington (5-6) and Leyes (4-5) Gwynedd Mercy shot 64.7% from distance in the second half, while converting on 51.7% of field goals.
 
The Knights (0-2) return to Alumni Gymnasium on Saturday to take on Rosemont.
